Only for Shelters-NOT for individual Passengers.
If you are coming with Animals: Basically on approaching the Airport you will have to take the Meneou/ Kiti LAST Turn Off BEFORE the end of Motorway and follow the white sign for VIP, Executive, Heads of State to get to Gate Nr 13.
There you will find a small Security Hut (manned 24/7) and you will need to ask for the Key for the Private Parking (Picture 4) just before the Hut.(Picture 1)
It is locked with a Chain to prevent others parking there. (A necessary precaution in Cyprus!)
Once you have the Key you can open the Parking Area. There will be some Trolleys (not delivered yet as of today), and you can unload the Crates to take them to the Weighing and Screening Area.
The Flight-escort or Flight-parent MUST be present there and can also get his / her Check In done.
After the Flight Parents have attended the G13 building for weigh in and check in – (they are required to be present at weigh in and check in process) then if payment needs to be made the Flight Parents will be required to go back to the terminal with the Agent to process the payment.
Please note: Check In can ONLY be done here if the Escort or Flight Parent has ONLY Hand Luggage. Larger Check in Luggage would still have to be done at the usual Counters in the Airport Hall.
There is Water and Toilet Facility next to the Weighing Room (Picture 2). Used by Staff but might be available for Hand Washing and fetching Water.
Next to the Weighing Room is the Security Scanner Room, where (as was done before) the Crate with or without the Animal needs to go through the Scanner.(Picture 3)
It is up to the Shelter Representative to decide if they want to leave their animals in the crate to go through X-ray. The shelter can make that call. They recommend keeping cats in crates to avoid danger of cats escaping.
Generally speaking, Dogs are easier to take out of the Crates then Cats but the Owner will always be asked for Consent to scan the Animal through the Scanner.
From here the Animals will go straight to the Airplane so once all is done the Escort and the Handlers will not see the Animals again.
Feel free to leave Comments or Questions which I can forward to whoever knows the Answer. (Not Me)
Weighing , Drop Off, Scanning Facilities ONLY for Shelter Dogs NOT for Individual Passengers taking their Pets.
