Traveling with Pets on LOT Polish Airlines
If you would like to travel with a pet: cat or dog, Lot Polish Airlines offers you such option. The place of travel – in the cabin or in the cargo hold – depends on its weight and size.
For your and other passengers’ comfort we can only take a limited number of pets in the cabin, so please make a reservation for your pet as soon as possible by telephone through lot Contact Center (+48 22 577 77 55).
We advise you to do so at the latest within 24 hours after you have booked your ticket, but at least 24 hours before departure. Please contact our Consultant. In Contact Center you can also confirm the possibility to take a pet on a given flight.
There are three travel options of animals:
- in the cabin,
- in the baggage hold,
- in the baggage hold as cargo.
Please remember that travel option depends on weight and size of your pet as well as regulations of the country of destination.
In case of reaching the limit of the number of pets carried on a given flight – both in the cabin and as cargo – we reserve the right to refuse carriage of the pet (also includes the carriage of guide dogs and other ESAN pets (emotional support animal).
In order to ensure the comfort and safety of carried animals, we apply the standards of the International Air Transport Association (iata).
All custom questions will be considered individually. Please contact us through Contact Center or Facebook Fanpage.
Organizing the journey
You should prepare for traveling with a pet by remembering about following:
- Before booking a flight familiarize yourself with relevant regulations covering traveling with animals to the country of your destination as well as general rules of pets’ well-being. You can find such information for example in the embassies of each country.
- Prepare vaccination records (against rabies or distemper) and an up-to-date health certificate from a vet confirming compliance with the regulations of the country of departure, the country of destination and any transit airports.
- In case of flights within the European Union prepare special passport with description of color, race and sex of the pet together with a microchip number or tattoo (issued by a vet).
- When traveling to the United Kingdom, transport of animals is allowed only by cargo. For detailed information please contact our Cargo and Mail Bureau (+48 22 606 77 77).
- Pets must travel in suitable container, which dimensions depend on the travel option and aircraft type. Detailed information can be found in dedicated sections.
Below you will find some more tips:
- Few days before the flight get your pet used to its travel bag or kennel so that it will be easier for it to bear the journey.
- Before the journey attach to the side of the kennel a label with the name of your pet and instructions about feeding.
- The check-in process for pets may take longer. We recommend arriving at the airport 3 hours before your scheduled departure time.
- Don’t give any food nor water at least a couple of hours before departure and walk your pet just before.
- Before departure give small amount of water.
- To ensure safety of your pet, place the leash and muzzle outside the transporter or in your hand baggage.
- Tranquilizing your pet should only be done in consultation with a veterinarian.
- Detailed information about the conditions of carriage and fees are available in our Contact Center (+48 22 577 77 55), in booking and sales offices or at our agents’ offices.
